THE STORY

About this wine

A fresh, fragrant 100% Nebbiolo from Ca' del Baio's younger vineyards around Treiso, in the Langhe. Garnet red with ruby tinges, it carries dried flowers, raspberry, red cherry, rose, and sweet tobacco over a dry, warm, soft, lightly tannic palate — light- to medium-bodied, easy to drink, and happy with a slight chill.

Ca' del Baio is a four-generation Grasso family estate based in Treiso, near Barbaresco, with vineyards in Treiso, Barbaresco, and Trezzo Tinella. The Langhe DOC Nebbiolo is made from grapes selected from several younger vineyards and represents a fresh, traditional, easy-drinking expression of the variety.

Worth knowing

Half of the 2024 went through carbonic maceration, an unusual route for Nebbiolo. It's what keeps this bottling lighter, chillable, and aperitivo-friendly.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Ca Del Baio Nebbiolo 2024

Tasting

Color: Garnet red in the glass with ruby tinges.
Nose: Fragrant from the first pour: dried flowers lead, geranium especially, over light raspberry-like fruit. The 2024 brings red cherry, rose, and sweet tobacco behind them.
Palate: Dry and warm, soft in the middle, with light tannins holding a light- to medium-bodied frame together. The finish is fresh and easy to drink, tart red berries and orange peel running right through it.
