THE STORY

About this wine

100% Syrah Côtes du Rhône from the négociant side of Château de Saint Cosme—blackberry, blackcurrant and blueberry with white pepper, ripe black cherry, violet and wild herbs, a fresh, medium-bodied palate, supple tannins, savory mineral finish.

Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône Rouge is the négociant bottling of Château de Saint Cosme, the Gigondas estate owned by the Barruol family since 1490 and managed by Louis Barruol. The 2024 is sourced from the southern Rhône and made as a pure Syrah expression.

Worth knowing

Château de Saint Cosme is a Gigondas estate, but this Côtes du Rhône is a négociant wine—grapes bought from contracted growers rather than an estate-only harvest. The 2024 fruit comes off the Villafranchian terraces of the Gard.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Chateau de Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2024

Tasting

Color: Inky dark in the glass, with violet reflections.
Nose: Blackberry, blackcurrant and blueberry lead, ripe black cherry close behind, then violet and white pepper with wild herbs and licorice underneath.
Palate: Lush yet medium-bodied, with peppery red and black fruit. Tannins are supple and velvety, freshness holds it up, and salinity carries into a savory, mineral finish.

Pairs Beautifully With

A must try with herb-roasted lamb
A must try with grilled sausages and charcuterie
A must try with pepper-crusted grilled beef
