THE STORY

About this wine

Perfumed and fruit-forward Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, raspberry, blackcurrant and cassis on a supple, fresh palate — 89% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc, from high-plateau parcels east of the village.

Château Peymouton is a 16-hectare Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate owned by the Beaumartin family and managed by the same team as Château Laroque. The Peymouton estate was formed in 1996 from part of the historic Laroque property, which dates to the 12th century.

Worth knowing

Peymouton isn't a separate property at all — it's a section of the Château Laroque estate, split off in 1996, with its high-plateau parcels sitting roughly 80 to 100 metres up and its fruit vinified by the Laroque team.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Château Peymouton Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2022

Tasting

Color: Bright ruby-purple in the glass, shading to an inky red.
Nose: Ripe and perfumed, raspberry, black raspberry, blackcurrant, black cherry and cassis in the first wave, spring flowers lifting them, graphite threading underneath. The savoury frame comes behind — cedar, new leather, pine, menthol and forest floor.
Palate: Fresh and vibrant on entry, medium-bodied edging toward medium-full, with pure red and black fruit riding a supple, fleshy frame. Lively acidity keeps it refreshing, the tannins fine and powdery, and the finish stays fresh and elegant.
