THE STORY

About this wine

Grenache-led Châteauneuf-du-Pape from hand-harvested 2024 fruit on mixed Safres and galets roulés soils. Garrigue and dark cherry up front, and the palate comes richly fruited with cocoa, cherry and gentle spice, fine tannins, and a long mineral finish.

Domaine de la Solitude’s Tradition Rouge is a historic Châteauneuf-du-Pape cuvée from the Lançon family estate. The 2024 wine is made from hand-picked fruit, selected and destemmed before gravity-fed fermentation in concrete vats; approximately 25% was matured in barrels and demi-muids for 14 months. The estate’s mixed Safres (sandstone) and rounded-pebble terroirs are described as contributing finesse and elegance, alongside power and structure.

Worth knowing

One cuvée, two soils pulling opposite ways. Safres sandstone brings the finesse and elegance, the rounded galets roulés pebbles bring the force and structure — the wine is where they meet.

Blend

  • Grenache 50%

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2024

Tasting

Color: Red in the glass.
Nose: Garrigue leads, cistus flower right behind, then blackcurrant buds, dark cherry and plum, with thyme, lavender and white pepper underneath.
Palate: Balanced and richly fruited, with structure holding it all up — cocoa, cherry and red-fruit compote lifted by gentle spice. The tannins are fine and velvety, and the finish runs long and mineral, liquorice at the end.

Pairs Beautifully With
