THE STORY

About this wine

A family estate founded in Puligny-Montrachet, five generations in, makes this precise, focused village Chassagne-Montrachet. Pear, lemon and chalky soil lead into a bright, succulent, full-bodied palate — a fine acidic spine, mineral undertow, and a long, complex finish.

Domaine Jean Chartron was founded in 1859 by Jean-Édouard Dupard in Puligny-Montrachet and remains a fifth-generation family estate. The 2024 vintage was made in a challenging, cool and humid season with intense mildew pressure; rigorous hand-harvest sorting reduced volumes in favor of purity.

Worth knowing

The label reads village, but the blend carries Premier Cru fruit. About a quarter comes from young vines in Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Caillerets, replanted five or six years earlier — which is why the 2024 doesn't carry the Les Benoîtes lieu-dit name.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Domaine Jean Chartron Chassagne-Montrachet 2024

Tasting

Color: Intense gold in the glass, bright and clear.
Nose: Acacia and hawthorn flowers lead, then citrus and stone fruit with pear, lemon and a touch of citrus peel. Chalky soil sits underneath, delicate oak holds its toast and spice in check, and a faint youthful reduction lifts with air.
Palate: Fleshy, round and opulent, yet fresh, bright and succulent. A fine acidic spine and limestone minerality run beneath the citrus and stone fruit — full-bodied, stony and textured, the finish long, complex and vibrant.
