THE STORY

About this wine

Fresh, dry, and young — all Sivi Pinot (Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio) from a small family winery in Slovenia's Goriška Brda, with full ripe apple and pear fruit through a soft herbal thread.

Ferdinand is a boutique family winery led by Matjaž Četrtič, who revived the family’s viticultural tradition associated with his great-grandfather Ferdinand. The 2024 wine is made from hand-harvested grapes, gently pressed, settled for 24 hours, fermented in stainless steel, and bottled in the summer following harvest.

Worth knowing

The name on the bottle was a person first — Matjaž Četrtič's great-grandfather Ferdinand, a successful grape grower.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Ferdinand Sivi Pinot Grigio 2024

Tasting

Color: Straw yellow in the glass, with a copper reflection to it.
Nose: Gentle herbs lead, then ripe pear and fresh, acid-bright apple — hints of mushroom and butter underneath.
Palate: Dry and fresh, but full-flavored. Ripe apple and pear carry the middle, and the fruit holds right through the finish.
