THE STORY

About this wine

Dry, crisp white Sancerre from 100% Sauvignon Blanc — gently pressed, cool-fermented in stainless steel, aged on fine lees. Lemon and grapefruit carry from nose to palate, gooseberry and green herbs behind, gunflint underneath, and the finish runs saline and persistent.

Firmin Dezat is the 18th generation of a Sancerre winegrowing family with documented roots dating to the 1550s. The estate is based in Verdigny and farms vineyards across Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, and Menetou-Salon; its vineyards are farmed organically. For the white wines, grapes are gently pressed, cool-fermented in stainless steel, and aged on fine lees before bottling.

Worth knowing

One family in Sancerre since the 1550s. Firmin Dezat is the eighteenth generation, and the estate's Sancerre vineyards around Verdigny run from flinty limestone to the appellation's other principal soils.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Firmin Dezat Sancerre 2025

Tasting

Color: Pale yellow, clear and bright, with green glints.
Nose: Fresh lemon and grapefruit up front. Gooseberry, fine herbs, blackcurrant leaf, and cut grass follow, with gunflint running underneath the fruit.
Palate: Taut and driving, pronounced acidity doing the pulling. Chalky, smoky minerality sits under the citrus, and the finish is saline and holds on.

Pairs Beautifully With
