THE STORY

About this wine

Dry, oxidative Oloroso Sherry — all Palomino Fino from Bodegas César Florido in Chipiona, an average of twelve years in solera, bottled en rama at 19% alcohol. Creamy and mouth-filling: walnut, almond, caramel, crème brûlée, molasses, spice, and a subtle iodine note.

Non-vintage Oloroso Sherry from Bodegas César Florido in Chipiona, within the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry wine region. The wine is made from Palomino Fino and aged oxidatively; the producer describes it as a dry wine with elegant, velvety aromas and a substantial palate.

Worth knowing

César Florido is the oldest bodega in Chipiona, founded in 1887, and this Oloroso comes from the family's own Balbaína and Miraflores pagos. Its solera time runs an average of twelve years before the en rama bottling.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Florido Sherry Oloroso Cruz D

Tasting

Color: Mahogany shading to amber, with copper highlights.
Nose: Walnut and almond lead, then caramel and crème brûlée, molasses and vanilla underneath, cinnamon and orange spice emerging — a subtle maritime iodine note behind it all.
Palate: Dry and full-bodied, with a creamy, glyceric texture that fills the mouth. Candied walnut, toffee, and caramel ride that texture, nutty and toasted all the way through, while lively acidity keeps everything fresh — the finish is long and clean.
