THE STORY

About this wine

2023 Pinot Noir from Les Narbantons, a Savigny-lès-Beaune premier cru that reached the domaine through Marc-Olivier's mother's family. Deep purple with a crimson rim, very concentrated deep red-berry fruit, a structured palate with refreshing spice, and a long, quite charming finish.

The Buffet family first settled in Volnay in 1692; the domaine’s winemaking heritage began in the 19th century and is now overseen by Marc-Olivier. The domaine describes its approach as terroir-focused, with five generations of family expertise and a transition toward organic farming.

Worth knowing

Les Narbantons came to the domaine through Marc-Olivier's mother's side of the family. The climat sits on the western edge of the road between Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaune, on soil that turns sandier toward the bottom of the slope.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE François Buffet Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Narbantons 2023

Tasting

Color: Deep, rich purple in the glass, crimson at the rim.
Nose: Very concentrated — deep red-berry fruit, and plenty of it.
Palate: Structured, and the texture hasn't smoothed out yet at this early stage. The fruit is high quality, though, concentrated enough to absorb the structure with time.

Pairs Beautifully With

A must try with roast chicken
A must try with seared duck breast
A must try with slow-braised beef
