THE STORY

About this wine

Dry and light-bodied with the fruit out front, from the IGP Var in Provence — juicy fresh fruit, a spice note, a saline edge, all landing on a clean, refreshing finish with good length. 13% abv.

Gavoty is a family estate in Cabasse, Var, Provence, founded in 1806 and now spanning seven generations. The 2025 La Cigale comes from the estate’s flatter Vin de Pays du Var/IGP Var parcels, distinct from its Côtes de Provence slope vineyards. The producer’s current generic La Cigale page reports a different blend (80% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, 10% Grenache) and does not explicitly identify the vintage; the 2025-specific merchant listing reports 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache, 5% Syrah and 5% Carignan (90% total as published), so the blend should be treated with that source-level qualification.

Worth knowing

Cicadas are everywhere in Provence, and this bottle carries their name — La Cigale is the cicada. Philémon Gavoty founded the estate in 1806, and the family farm has been organically certified since the 2020 harvest.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Gavoty 'La Cigale' Rosé (IGP Var) 2025

Tasting

Color: Rosé
Nose: The nose is fruit and spice, and the fruit stays fresh — nothing confected about it.
Palate: Juicy and dry together, and light in body, with fresh fruit carrying a spice note and a saline edge through the middle. The finish comes clean and refreshing, and there's good length — enough to hold its own at the table.
