THE STORY

About this wine

A savory, oak-influenced 2023 estate red blend from Washington's Red Mountain AVA — medium-bodied and structured, black currant and plum over cocoa and roasted oak, bright acidity, tannins that run gentle to firm. Have it with food now or give it five to ten years.

Hedges Family Estate’s 2023 Red Mountain is an estate-grown red blend from the Red Mountain AVA in Washington State. The fruit came from four estate vineyards within a two-mile radius of the winery: Hedges, Bel’ Villa, Les Gosses and Jolet.

Worth knowing

The 2023 season on Red Mountain opened with a dry, mild spring and a late bud break, then turned hot through May and June. Veraison arrived in late July or early August, and the harvest ran September into October, spread out enough to balance yields — a season that may prove a classic Washington vintage, especially on Red Mountain.

Blend

  • Cabernet Sauvignon 56%
  • Merlot 25%
  • Cabernet Franc 7%
  • Petit Verdot 1%
