THE STORY

About this wine

Full-bodied, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley's even 2019 — cedar, dried herbs, cassis and blueberry layered over juicy dark fruit, spice and mocha. Approachable now on polished tannins and fresh acidity, and balanced enough to cellar into the mid-to-late 2030s.

Heitz Cellar’s 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a notably even growing season: abundant winter rainfall was followed by a long, warm summer and cool foggy mornings. Heitz describes the resulting vintage as marked by bright acidity, strong structure, soft tannins and distinct aromatics.

Worth knowing

Something shifted with the 2019. Part of the wine went into casks for the first time, a step taken alongside the winery's long-aging approach, and the release came in at 13,718 cases.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Magnum

Tasting

Color: Deep garnet-purple in the glass.
Nose: Black cherry, cassis and blackberry pie come out front, with cedar and dried herbs folded around them and blueberry, incense and camphor a step back. Deeper in, currant, dried flowers, sage and sandalwood surface.
Palate: Juicy and expressive, full-bodied and dry, with dark fruit, spice and mocha doing the work. The texture runs plush and silky, the acidity stays fresh, the tannins are polished and gentle, and the finish holds on with a lift of mint.

Pairs Beautifully With
