THE STORY

About this wine

Deep, serious 2023 Pommard from the Les Vignots climat, built on firm, fine-grained tannins and marked mineral structure — dark cherry, wild blackberry and plum over earth, spice and a touch of cedar, focused rather than heavy.

The Girardin family has been in Burgundy since 1570; Justin Girardin is the 13th generation to lead the 17-hectare family estate, whose holdings run from Santenay to Savigny-les-Beaune.

Worth knowing

A site with a survivor's history. When an insect invasion swept the Côte de Beaune in the 15th century, Les Vignots was among the few parcels where the vines made it through — and the name comes from the old French "Vigneau," the vineyard.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Justin Girardin Pommard Les Vignots 2023

Tasting

Color: Deep ruby-red in the glass.
Nose: Dark cherry and wild blackberry lead, plum close behind, with earth, herbs and spice underneath and just a touch of cedar in the background.
Palate: Ripe dark fruit up front, with firm, fine-grained tannins right behind it. Serious mineral grip carries through the middle, and the focused freshness keeps it structured rather than heavy.
