THE STORY

About this wine

A dry, still red Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley with real juice — ripe mixed berries, raspberry, and black plum on the nose, medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, fine dusty tannins over stony minerality.

Limerick Lane Cellars is a family-owned producer based on a 53-acre estate in the northeastern Russian River Valley near Healdsburg, Sonoma County. The winery focuses on site-expressive Zinfandel and Rhône-style wines, using a minimal-intervention approach. The 2022 Russian River Zinfandel combines estate-grown fruit with fruit from old-vine sites in the surrounding region and was bottled after 11 months.

Worth knowing

Just 1,672 cases, the blend essentially half estate fruit and half purchased. The fruit runs darker than the 2021 vintage.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Limerick Lane Russian River Zinfandel 2022

Tasting

Color: Dark red in the glass, with a ripe ruby-magenta hue.
Nose: Sweet mixed berries, raspberry, black plum, and Rainier cherry up front, with candied red flowers, peach, rose petal, and lavender lifting them. Underneath, orange peel, white flowers, citrus, herbes de Provence, and wet stone emerge.
Palate: Juicy and balanced, medium-bodied to medium-plus, with vibrant, integrated acidity carrying red currant and red plum over stony minerality. Fine dusty tannins frame oak, black pepper, cedar, and black tea, and the finish runs long.
