THE STORY

About this wine

Dry, medium- to full-bodied Haut-Médoc from 2022, built on Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in the blend — intense cherry and ripe plum, blackcurrant and blackberry, iris and woodsmoke accents, liquorice and tobacco, a creamy mid-palate, firm tannins, and a long, fruity-spicy finish.

Madame de Beaucaillou is a Haut-Médoc wine made by the team behind Château Ducru-Beaucaillou under proprietor Bruno Borie. The 2022 is sourced from 55 hectares across the appellation: 35 ha in Listrac, 11 ha in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, and the remainder in Moulis, with the fruit declassified into Haut-Médoc. It was aged for 18 months in barrels; one merchant description specifies 25% new oak.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Madame de Beaucaillou Haut-Médoc 2022

Tasting

Color: Purple reflections run through a deep ruby that shades to plum and dark ruby-garnet.
Nose: Fruit speaks first and at volume — cherry and ripe plum, then blackcurrant and blackberry, iris and other florals lifting it, woodsmoke, cedar and clove underneath, and tobacco, vanilla and spice emerging last.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied and rich, the mid-palate turning creamy and the freshness staying lively.
