THE STORY

About this wine

Dry, structured and ageworthy — the 2021 Mount Veeder Cabernet carries concentrated dark fruit over graphite, dried herbs and forest floor, with fine tannins, bright acidity and a long, structured finish.

Mayacamas Vineyards is a historic Mount Veeder estate whose winery dates to 1889. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from eleven estate vineyard sites plus one grower site; grapes were hand-harvested from August 31 through September 9, fermented in concrete, stainless steel and oak puncheons, and aged in neutral foudre/puncheon and neutral French oak. The final blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Worth knowing

Just 18 inches of rain fell in the 2021 growing season on Mount Veeder — the lowest total in 55 years of estate records. The vintage answered with low yields, a naturally balanced canopy, and an early, compact harvest.
