THE STORY

About this wine

Medium-bodied, elegant red Corton Grand Cru from roughly fifty-year-old vines in the northern "Rognet" plot—a 2023 first release under the Pierre & Marianne Duroché négociant label. Red and black fruit with orange-zest freshness, fine pliant tannins, and a keen line of acidity.

A 2023 red Corton Grand Cru from the Pierre & Marianne Duroché négociant label. The cuvée is made from purchased grapes; the label was introduced with the 2017 vintage, and this Corton is reported as a first 2023 vintage.

Worth knowing

About 75 cases, all of it the 2023 first harvest of the "Rognet" plot (also rendered "Les Rognets") for this cuvée. The vines sit in the northern part of the appellation, planted in the mid-1970s, roughly fifty years old, and cultivated exclusively by Domaine Duroché.

Blend

  • Pinot Noir

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Pierre & Marianne Duroché Corton Grand Cru 2023

Tasting

Color: Bright purple at the core, going lighter toward the rim.
Nose: Red and black fruit lead, with pastille-like notes and a hint of orange zest behind, then darker fruit and violet over iron-rich earth.
Palate: Medium-bodied, the tannins fine and pliant, the acidity running one keen line. A stony, mineral tension carries through, and the finish gains weight as it goes.

Pairs Beautifully With

A must try with roast duck breast
A must try with wild mushroom risotto
A must try with braised beef in red wine
