THE STORY

About this wine

De-alcoholised Muscat from France, a sparkling wine-based drink at 0.5% alcohol in a 750 ml bottle — golden-white with a shimmer, thin bubbles that last, gentle florals over pear, raisin, baked apple, green apple and citrus.

Veuve du Vernay Zero, also marketed as Veuve du Vernay Alcohol Removed, is a de-alcoholised sparkling wine-based drink produced and bottled in France by Patriarche. Veuve du Vernay was established in the 1960s by Robert Charmat, whose father Eugene Charmat patented the Charmat method; Patriarche is based in Beaune and was founded in 1780.

Worth knowing

Zero is vegan-friendly and made without added sugar, the two details worth having ready when someone asks what's in the glass.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Veuve du Vernay Zero Non-Alcoholic

Tasting

Color: Golden-white with a shimmer to it, the bubbles thin and long-lasting.
Nose: Gentle florals lead, with a light note of dried wood tucked in behind.
Palate: Round and aromatic, leaning sweet — pear, raisins and baked apple at the core, with fresher green apple and citrus around them. It stays balanced through the middle, though the finish lands on the short side.
