THE STORY

About this wine

A dry, age-worthy Colli Tortonesi white built on 100% Timorasso from sites around Monleale — pear, peach and white flowers over honey and mineral, a textured palate, fresh acidity, and a long finish. 26,213 bottles produced.

Vietti’s 2024 Derthona Timorasso is a Colli Tortonesi DOC white from vineyards in and around Monleale. Fermentation lasts about four weeks in ceramic vessels, oak casks and stainless steel; the wine undergoes no malolactic fermentation and ages 10 months on fine lees in ceramic, stainless steel and large oak. Reported production is 26,213 bottles.

Worth knowing

The label says Derthona because that's the old name for Tortona, the town at the heart of these hills. And Timorasso, the grape, came close to disappearing — now it's one of Piedmont's most distinctive age-worthy whites.

CHARACTERISTICS AND TASTING TIPS OF THE Vietti Timorasso Derthona Colli Tortonesi 2024

Tasting

Color: An intense, clear yellow in the glass, green hues running through it.
Nose: Pear and peach lead, acacia and hawthorn behind them, honey underneath. Lemon confit, chamomile, sage and dried herbs fold in as it opens.
Palate: Dry, warm and soft on the way in. The middle turns creamy and layered, a wine with real texture, and fresh acidity carries Golden Delicious apple, ripe melon and stone fruit into a long, persistent finish — salty and dusty at the close.

Pairs Beautifully With

A must try with Herbed risotto or sage-butter pasta
A must try with Aged hard cheese
